Proyecto es financiado por el Fondo de Apoyo a la Investigación (FAIN) 2020 y ayudará al sector artesanal, afectado por el fenómeno de El Niño costero del 2017
La Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego promueve, desarrolla y difunde la investigación a través de proyectos vinculados al interés local y regional que impulsen el desarrollo sostenible. En ese contexto, el Programa de Estudio de Administración de la filial en Piura está diseñando diversas estrategias de reactivación económica para el sector artesanal de Catacaos desde el concepto de economía naranja.
La propuesta se refleja en la investigación titulada “Adaptación a la vulnerabilidad del cambio climático y fenómeno de El Niño por parte del sector artesanal del distrito de Catacaos, región Piura”, del docente de Administración y maestro Jorge Zapata Chau, con el apoyo del trabajador administrativo y maestro Carlos Peralta Chávez y la estudiante Valeria Cherre Quintanilla.
El estudio ha identificado las localidades y los 2500 artesanos que se vieron afectados por el fenómeno de El Niño, para luego determinar los daños materiales y económicos que produjo, entre ellos, la disminución de la producción en ventas y turismo.
En tanto, el docente Jorge Zapata manifiesta que, a pesar de las adversidades de este fenómeno natural, los artesanos han demostrado que con fortaleza y dedicación siempre pueden salir adelante. “Los jóvenes universitarios deben involucrarse activamente en las problemáticas de su localidad, a fin de proponer mejoras concretas a través de la investigación académica”.
La investigación es de tipo descriptiva cualitativa, desarrollada desde la perspectiva del método Delphi. Para llevarla a cabo, se realizaron 10 entrevistas a los artesanos que trabajan en paja toquilla, los más representativos del distrito de Bajo Piura. (RRM/RRC – PRENSA UPAO).
