Culminó investigación con importantes aportes sobre la ciencia y la creación del conocimiento
El investigador y docente orreguiano Juan Carlos Cabrera La Rosa desarrolló el lunes 20 de junio el taller de cierre de su proyecto de investigación, “Desarrollo y validación de una plataforma proteómica asociada a la calidad y velocidad de crecimiento de especies forestales nativas e introducidas en Lambayeque".
En el taller, explicó que la investigación se hizo en árboles de especies nativas del bosque seco (algarrobo, faique y sapote), especies forestales introducidas (caoba y cedro) y una especie con potencial forestal evaluada en el proyecto para sistemas agroforestales por tener propiedades insecticidas (neem).
El investigador explicó que las muestras se seleccionaron en el bosque del Cañoncillo (La Libertad), Jayanca (Lambayeque) y Sullana y Morropón (Piura), se plantaron en vivero y se realizó evaluaciones biométricas en algarrobo, faique y sapote referentes a la altura de la planta, grosor del tallo, peso fresco y peso seco.
Además de realizar ensayos de sustratos, temperatura, estrés hídrico y segregación de progenie, también se evaluó la longitud de raíces, criterio utilizado para determinar los dos caracteres de selección: calidad de madera y velocidad de crecimiento.
En laboratorio, se extrajo ADN de las seis especies en estudio y proteínas provenientes de plántulas con desarrollo de madera, y los resultados del proyecto permitieron confirmar marcadores moleculares basados en PCR y proteínas asociadas a la calidad de madera.
El proyecto aporta una base de datos de ADN genómico de tres especies arbóreas del bosque seco no registradas anteriormente en la literatura, marcadores moleculares para especies con importancia económica, como cedro y caoba, y una especie con alto potencial para uso agroforestal, como es el neem.
Asimismo, una base de datos de 158 proteínas asociadas a calidad de madera en las especies en estudio. Posteriores estudios nos permitirán conocer mejor la expresión de este carácter en condiciones de manejo local. (CGG/RRC – PRENSA UPAO).
