En el Perú, el 62 % de la población sufre de este mal y está expuesta a enfermedades cardiovasculares
En nuestro país el 62% de la población sufre de obesidad. Son 15 millones de peruanos los que ponen en riesgo su vida, porque podrían sufrir, además, de enfermedades cardiovasculares, según un reporte de EsSalud en el Día Mundial de la Obesidad.
La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) la cataloga como una pandemia no infecciosa, porque, hasta el 2023, las cifras indican que cada año mueren en el mundo 2,8 millones de personas a causa de ella. Así lo precisa el egresado de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego (UPAO) y médico cirujano bariátrico Otoniel Burgos Chávez. Según dice, lamentable, cada vez hay más niños afectados.
“La obesidad genera en el ser humano un daño progresivo, debido a que afecta su condición biológica, psicológica y social; en conciencia, te genera diversas patologías: diabetes, daños articulares, alteraciones del colesterol, daños en el sistema nervioso central y cáncer de diferentes tipos”, añade Burgos Chávez.
Alimentación saludable y actividad física
Para prevenir la obesidad, el médico orreguiano recomienda a las familias incorporar en su menú diario alimentos saludables, como frutas, verduras y proteínas, así como evitar el exceso de frituras, bebidas gaseosas, la comida chatarra y alimentos industrializados.
“Además
de una alimentación saludable, sugiero la práctica de actividad física diaria
en niños, jóvenes, adultos y adultos mayores. Debemos erradicar el
sedentarismo; y no es necesario pagar un gimnasio: con caminar 40 minutos
diarios, en caso de los adultos, es suficiente”, destaca Burgos Chávez. (APB-PRENSA UPAO)
