Futuros abogados orreguianos destacan en Segundo Moot de arbitraje, en Arequipa.
La Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego (UPAO) logró un meritorio segundo lugar en la segunda edición del concurso nacional de arbitraje, denominado Moot. El certamen académico convocó a 40 equipos de universidades públicas y privadas del país. La semifinal y final se disputó en Arequipa.
Un Moot es una actividad en las que los participantes simulan procesos ante una corte, usualmente realizados a través de la repartición de memorias seguidas de rondas orales. Esta edición fue organizada por el Centro de Estudios de Derecho Civil y Arbitraje (CEDCA), el Estudio Vidal Abogados, la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Católica San Pablo (Arequipa) y la Cámara de Comercio e Industria (Arequipa).
El caso hipotético del concurso indicaba que Praderas S.A.C. y Alimentos Colombianos S.A.A. establecieron relaciones comerciales mediante correos electrónicos y acuerdos informales con la participación de Chiken y Ponderosa. Los envíos de alimentos y empaques resultaron en deudas impagas. Alimentos Colombianos S.A.A. reclama estos pagos y propone arbitraje. La defensa alega la falta de contratos formales, poderes de las personas involucradas y cuestiona la jurisdicción arbitral debido a un proceso concursal previo.
La participación de UPAO la gestionó la unidad de investigación y semilleros, dirigido por la maestra Claudia Mori Ugarte. Como asesor se desempeñó el docente Carlos Alza Collantes. UPAO y la Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán (UNHEVAL) clasificaron a la final, tras superar en la semifinal a la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (UNT) y a la Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal (UNFV).
Para la fase final, los estudiantes tuvieron que superar distintas etapas, la primera fue la presentación de una memoria de demanda y la presentación de una contestación de demanda, todo esto en el lapso de un mes que duró el proceso de evaluación, de manera virtual. Posteriormente, se realizaron las audiencias generales hasta los cuartos de final, en la modalidad no presencial.
De los nueve estudiantes que conformaron el equipo fueron seleccionados para viajar y sustentar la propuesta Mariajosé Peralta Vásquez, Juan Morillas Clarke, Alessandro Vílchez Burgos y Álvaro Isla Gastañadui. Completan el equipo Ana Gil Chirinos, Sofía Luján Caballero, Angelica Díaz Peláez, Karla Pereda Velarde y Carlos Ruiz Delgado. (APB-PRENSA UPAO)
