Recomendó acciones mensuales de control físico
Los profesionales biólogos del equipo de vigilancia y control del dengue de la Gerencia Regional de Salud (Geresa) La Libertad ofreció una jornada de capacitación al equipo responsable de esta área de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego (UPAO).
Los representantes orreguianos de las áreas de salud ocupacional, bienestar universitario, servicios generales, mantenimiento y gasfitería, entre otros, participaron de esta importante reunión, que les permitió tener una idea más clara respecto a la forma de aplicar acciones de prevención y de encarar los casos que podrían presentarse.
Al llegar al campus universitario, los biólogos Eliana Ravelo Castro, Diana Sandoval y David Obeso Chávez realizaron una visita de vigilancia y control de los ambientes, con el fin de detectar posibles zonas de riesgo.
La intención fue incentivar la prevención como parte de la lucha contra esta enfermedad. La meta es que las universidades practiquen una vigilancia mensual de sus pozos de agua, jardines, macetas y floreros.
“Si hay casos en colegios, también puede presentarse esta enfermedad en las universidades. Por eso aconsejamos que se realice el control físico, para eliminar el agua en reposo, que es el lugar ideal para que el zancudo haga su criadero”, dijo la bióloga Eliana Ravelo Castro.
Recordó que es la hembra del zancudo Aedes agyptis la que transmite la enfermedad, entre las 4:00 a. m. y las 8:00 a. m. y de 5:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. Luego de la picadura, el infectado puede pasar de 3 a 7 días con cuadros de fiebre, dolor de ojos, deshidratación por los vómitos, entre otros síntomas.
Aclaró que la enfermedad se transmite por el vector y no es contagiosa de persona a persona. Aseguró también que el tiempo de calor favorece la presencia del zancudo, razón por la que su incidencia ha aumentado en los distritos de La Esperanza, Florencia de Mora y El Porvenir.
“Esto nos obliga a intensificar las unidades de control vectorial con respecto a las fumigaciones, por la presencia de casos autóctonos que se están presentando en distintos lugares de la provincia de Trujillo”, indicó.
Recomendó que, frente a una infección por dengue, se evite la automedicación y, sobre todo, el consumo de antibiótico. También recordó que es necesario que la persona infectada acuda al centro de salud más cercano, donde habrá de recibir una adecuada atención y tratamiento. (CGG/RRC – PRENSA UPAO).
