El triunfo le permite competir en los Juegos Universitarios Regionales Norte 2023, que se desarrollarán en la UPAO Trujillo
El equipo de básquetbol femenino de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego (UPAO) del campus Piura se adjudicó el título de la Liga Universitaria Regional, tras vencer a su similar de la Universidad Nacional de Piura (UNP) por 40-36.
Tras la victoria del quinteto orreguiano, la tabla de posiciones quedó de la siguiente manera: UPAO (campeón), Universidad de Piura (subcampeón) y Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (tercer lugar).
Con estos resultados los tres equipos clasificaron a los Juegos Universitarios Regionales Norte 2023, que se disputarán en Trujillo del 18 al 24 de octubre. El certamen es organizado por la Federación Deportiva Universitaria del Perú (Fedup) y la UPAO. En la etapa macrorregional participarán diversas universidades del norte del país.
El director técnico de los equipos de básquetbol, Christian Zapata, se mostró satisfecho con los resultados, ya que tanto el equipo femenino y masculino lograron la ansiada clasificación. “Nuestros orreguianos han demostrado muchas disciplina y responsabilidad. Este triunfo es fruto de su esfuerzo”, agregó.
Cabe
mencionar que la UPAO Piura también ha clasificado en vóleibol femenino, luego
